11119127_10103110198179720_6608192000836427932_n Erica Mosca is a proud first-generation college graduate and social justice advocate. Part of the college access non-profit 10,000 Degrees in high school and serving as a fifth grade teacher with Teach For America, Las Vegas Valley, Mosca experienced educational inequity in both her personal and professional life. “I am dedicated to empowering change from the community, for the community to ensure students can play the game to change the game of systemic inequity and oppression. The opportunity to attain a college education is the foundation for underrepresented students to become leaders in their own communities.” Mosca graduated Summa Cum Laude from Boston University (College of General Studies/College of Communication) in 2008 and has an M.Ed. from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (2010) and an Ed.M. from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education (2011) when she also was part of the Education Pioneers 2011 Boston Cohort. She founded Leaders in Training in August 2012 at 26 and starts her fourth year as Executive Director during the 2015-2016 school year.

Me 1 Alex Kim graduated with a B.A. from the Ohio State University in 2012 and joined AmeriCorps VISTA due to its opportunities for self-development, career and social exploration, and community service for others. “During my time at Leaders in Training, I gained insight on how socioeconomic background and having limited resources can hinder a student’s chances to not only attend and graduate from college, but also to engage in opportunities for self-development. As an AmeriCorps VISTA for Leaders in Training, it is great to know that I am putting effort for a worthy cause by helping the organization provide as much equitable opportunity possible for our students to take advantage of to develop themselves for a college pathway.”
